Thank you for choosing FeinSum Housing. This webpage was designed to help our students, and parents, as they move into their new house. A few recommendations to help reduce the craziness of moving:

• Print out this webpage and bring it with you.

• Print out the Move-In Form and bring it with you.

• Bring a camera, that is charged, to remember the day.

• Purchase a few things to help reduce the apartments exposure to damage.  Use the list below:

  Adhesive Felt and place it on all furniture (beds, tables, couches, chairs etc.) where it would have contact with the floor. You may not see damage now but over time furniture can be moved and cause damage that you will be responsible for later.

  Padding or no slip grip and put under all carpets or rugs your bringing with you. Over time carpet, without protection, will remove coatings (painted or other) from floors.

  WHITE stick tack putty. DO NOT use nails, duck tape, tape, regular tape, tacks or other adhesives to put things on the wall. These may pull the paint from the wall, when left on the walls for extended periods of time, and cause damage that would be deducted from your security.

  33 gallon BLACK garbage bags. Garbage must be in at least 33 gallon bags to meet the requirements of garbage pick up.  Your garbage will not be picked up or your garbage privilege will be revoked if garbage is not placed in the right bags or in a garbage can provided.

  Outside, fireproof, cigarette container. You will be responsible for upholding the no smoking policy of this house. All smoking is prohibited in the house. All cigarettes must be disposed in appropriate fire proof containers and NOT IN THE YARD. Fines can be assigned if this rule is broken.

   

Move-in day approaches quickly.  These guidelines will help you as you get to your new apartment:

• KEYS - Check that all your keys work when you get to your new home.  Bring any non-working key back to the office..

• COMPLETE MOVE-IN FORM - Take pictures of the house before you move in your belongings. Create a list of any imperfections in the apartment and hand them into FeinSum Housing, USING OUR MOVE-IN FORM, within 2 days after move in. Be very picky and very specific.  Generalized statements, such as "window broken" cannot be accepted.  Specific statements, such as "My bedroom window has a hole in the screen" is more appropriate.. This list will be placed in your file and referenced at the end of your lease period with us to determine what damage was present at the start of your lease. Caution: If a list is not submitted, within 2 days, then all damages found at the end of your lease term will be considered new.

• USE STICK TACK ONLY - save your deposit for fun things.  Any item to be placed on the walls must be secured with stick tack.  Any other adhesive may pull paint off the walls.  Banners, street signs and the like are not permitted on the walls. Please review your lease for a complete listing of items prohibited at your residence.

• LAUNDRY - Some of our laundry facilities offer front load washers (where you put the clothes in from the front of the machine not the top of the machine).  You are required to use HE (High Efficiency) Laundry Soap in these washers or the machine will break down.  If the machine breaks down, due to improper soap, then the tenant will be responsible for a replacement of like kind.  Your dryer also has a lint collection tray.  If you are not familiar please call the office.  This collection tray must be cleaned out before every load or you may be at risk for fire.

• GARBAGE/RECYCLE - Post the recycling list at your residence and follow it strictly if you wish for FeinSum Housing to remove your garbage. Garbage is collected by FeinSum on an unscheduled bases.  Recycling is collected but sometimes requires an email to the office if it is full in-between garbage collection times.  Please contact us if you do not wish to participate in the recycling program. Furniture (couches and other inside furniture) are not permitted outside of the house. This is a Williamsport Code violation. Items will be removed and you will be charged for their disposal.

• INSPECTIONS - Inspections are performed spontaneously throughout the school year. These are performed to ensure that the house is meeting requirements for health and a safety as well as for checking the condition of the house and its operation. Our first inspection will be completed shortly after move-in.  This initial inspection is done just to make sure that you are acclimated with your new place.

• PARTIES - Parties and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Any occurrence will not be tolerated and a fine of $1,000.00 will be due immediately or students may be evicted.

• BEHAVIOR - Unruly behavior or damage to the house can be considered destruction of property and disturbance of the peace and will be filed and reported with the Williamsport and Penn Tech Police.

Poor = visible filth and grime and is completely unacceptable (this category requires explanation in writing) .
